Add a review...A compelling family dynamic weakened by a overly neat resolution
I kept waiting for this one to turn a corner, but never quite sticks the landing. The setup is heavy from the jump: Linda comes home after prison expecting at least a crack of compassion and instead finds a family that already decided who she was long ago. Maggie Rose Hudson carries that quiet exhaustion really well, making Linda feel worn down but still standing. Neven Tomic’s Bruce ends up being the most interesting part of the family dynamic. He starts off harsh and defensive, then slowly begins to realize something is deeply wrong with the story he’s been told. Jack, played by Mark Valeriano, is frustrating in a very intentional way; he loved her, but folded the second things got hard, and now he’s stuck living with that regret. The parents’ favoritism is clear, but it stays one-note, and the story never fully explores the damage they caused.
