‘His Brother, My Lover’ is peak mafia melodrama. This film gives you a full-on emotional rollercoaster; with betrayal, lust, and a love triangle hotter than a gunfight at a wedding, and it really shouldn’t work; but it totally does. Dominique Rose stuns as Layla, the grieving widow who loses her baby, her future, and maybe her sanity; only to fall for her dead husband’s dangerous brother, Orlando (played with smoldering depth by Armand Procacci). Just when she thinks she’s found peace, boom; Matt (Ben Whalen) returns from the dead like it’s Tuesday. This is trauma bonding with a side of tuxedos, forced marriages, and plot twists you do not see coming. It’s unhinged. It’s messy. It’s impossible not to binge.
