This was somewhat a corporate retelling of West Side Story (which itself is a loose retelling of Romeo and Juliet) with a less depressing ending.
It's always great seeing vertical moms who are actually well-meaning. Elaine's mom was given enough time to explain her motivations and express genuine concern for her daughter. The same goes for Vincent's mom. It was also nice to see an ex-girlfriend not go psychotic villainess. Sometimes (usually) fewer plotlines and sources of conflict ends up being better for the overall story. ✨️
