This one is pure high school romance nostalgia with a little extra bite. It dives headfirst into the familiar world of popularity, labels, first crushes, and social pressure, then keeps things engaging by giving its characters more depth than you'd expect. Phoebe is easy to root for as she slowly finds her confidence, while Beau proves there's much more beneath the rebel image. Even the seemingly perfect golden boy and the queen bee antagonist get layered arcs that make the drama feel more than just surface-level teen chaos.
It isn't perfect. Casting visibly older actors as high school students makes it a little harder to stay immersed, and one emotional turnaround happens much faster than it realistically should. Even so, the story earns points by holding people accountable, tackling bullying from several angles, and reminding us that authenticity will always beat popularity.
