This was very reminiscent of the 90s romcoms I grew up with (think She's All That), and I love it. Probably why I'm drawn to these kinds of stories in the first place. It has all the classic elements of an old school romcom (set in high school, the makeover montage, the wise confidant who shows up in the most convenient times), while staying true to the snappy pace and narrative structure of vertical dramas.
I loved seeing the leads together here. How they perfectly captured their roles as Ethan Hart the broken popular jock and Pearl the self-assured library nerd, as well as their dynamics together, really made this vertical such a great watch. There really is no direct English translation for this Filipino word, but I can only describe it as super KILIG. (Like how you feel giddy and on a high from seeing something so romantic??)
