  • Surprisingly engaging

    This has classic “kill your target, fall in love instead” energy, but wrap it in gothic tension, betrayal, & just enough chaos to keep it biting. Bianca walks in with a plan, a disguise, & a mission… and then immediately runs into a man who doesn’t match the monster she was promised. Elijah isn’t loud or cruel. He’s controlled & almost hauntingly restrained, which makes every shift in his emotion hit harder. Now add in the faithful Fred & Drudgio, who protect Bianca & Elijah, respectively, & it makes you wonder if it’s a mission meant to succeed. The longer she stays, the more the mission cracks. What starts as strategy turns into hesitation… and then something way more dangerous. What really works here is the push between duty & desire. Meg & Christian sell that tension beautifully: she’s impulsive, he’s measured, and together it creates this slow & charged unraveling.
